Weissman & Weissman is a construction and real estate law firm representing general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and property owners. We assist our clients in exercising and defending their rights under the Mechanics' Lien law. We negotiate, draft and enforce their contracts and credit applications both prior to commencing a lawsuit and bring lawsuits to foreclose on Mechanics' Liens, enforce Stop Notices and bond claims. We assist our clients with real estate contracts, transactions and disputes. We assist our clients through mediation, arbitration, trial and in the exercise of their pre and post-judgment collection remedies. We handle disputes concerning residential, commercial, industrial, public (State) and Federal (Miller Act) property.

Weissman & Weissman also represents contractors and property owners in the defense and prosecution of breach of contract, construction defect and related real property disputes. We also represent property owners and their authorized agents in bringing petitions to remove Mechanics' Liens and in the defense of Mechanics' Lien actions filed in both the Municipal and Superior Courts.

Robert A. Weissman of Weissman & Weissman regularly presents "how to" seminars on topics which include how to prepare and serve preliminary notices, Mechanics' Liens and Stop Notices, how to exercise bond claim rights, how to get paid when you have no lien rights and seminars updating changes in Mechanics' Lien and Construction law.

Robert A. Weissman has been a practicing attorney since 1975. He is admitted to practice in the State of California as well as in most of its federal court districts. He is the author of How to Use the Mechanics' Law, a "how to" book written in everyday language, along with two new pocket guides written for the contractor and supplier. He is also the author of over 50 published articles in publications which include the Los Angeles Daily Journal, Real Estate Today, The Electrical News, The California Real Property Journal and Los Angeles Lawyer Magazine. He has been quoted in publications which include the Los Angeles Times, the Daily News, NationsBusiness and Inc. Magazine. He has also been a frequent speaker to diverse groups including Credit Managers of California, Electrical Supply Group, the Association of Woodworking and Furnishing Suppliers, California Conference of Masonry Contractors, Pacific Southwest Distributors Association, the California Land Surveyors Association, BOMA and is a member of Associated General Contractors of California.

Weissman & Weissman represents clients and handles matters throughout the State of California. Mr. Weissman is involved in community and Bar Association activities including serving as a Trustee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, a Trustee of the Valley Community Legal Foundation and has served as President of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association during its fiscal 1995-96 year.
