Pocket Guides
For Suppliers and For Contractors/Subcontractors
Written by Robert A. Weissman (construction attorney) and
Susan Shaffner (paralegal)
These Pocket Guides are written just for the supplier and contractor (both General
Contractors and Subcontractors). Each pocket guide contains a summary of the
law of Preliminary Notices, Stop Notices, Mechanics' Liens, Release Bonds, Payments
Bonds and the Miller Act. Following the summaries, are some of the most commonly
asked questions about the Mechanics' Lien law. The contractor's version contains
information about the importance of a written contract including home improvement
contracts and the types of clauses that should be included. The supplier's version
contains advice about credit applications and personal guarantees including
advice about clauses that should be included. Each book ends with tables designed
to help the supplier or contractor comply with the time periods imposed by the
Mechanics' Lien law.
These pocket guides are written by Robert A. Weissman and Susan Shaffner, a
construction attorney and paralegal. These pocket guides are designed to contain
a very brief summary of the law. They do not contain any forms.
